Project Pals has partnered with\u00a0<\/span>Bloom Public School<\/span><\/span><\/a> <\/span><\/span>in India’s capital,\u00a0New Delhi, as part of their project-based learning (PBL) enhancement program.\u00a0The projects produced by these students <\/span>exceed all expectations\u00a0<\/span><\/span>and\u00a0<\/span>truly embody the spirit of PBL\u00a0<\/span><\/span>in their authenticity and engagement. Right from the start, students utilized all the tools our platform has to offer with mastery, including more advanced tools like like <\/span>components, events, analysis tiles, <\/span><\/span>and<\/span> annotations<\/span><\/span>.\u00a0“I have never seen projects of this caliber,” says Project Pals CEO and founder Miriam Bogler, who facilitated the partnership.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Some of the projects were derived from existing lesson plans and templates in the Project Pals Catalog, but students didn’t shy away from designing their own projects from scratch, either. These projects covered a <\/span>diverse range of complex topics<\/span><\/span>, such as: stress management, how kids play, climate change, community engagement and safety, COVID-19, and UNSC veto power. So, without further ado, we’re pleased to present these<\/span>\u00a0show-stopping projects<\/span><\/span> from our students in India:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

1. Stress Management<\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n<\/div>\n
\n

This project, which was <\/span>designed from start to finish by the students themselves,<\/span><\/span> explores the topic of stress management, including its influences and effects across age groups and other demographics. Students even closely examined\u00a0<\/span>complex influences<\/span><\/span> on stress, like the role of gender identity, personality, and socioeconomic factors.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

What also stands out about this project is its <\/span>organization<\/span><\/span> and <\/span>detail<\/span><\/span>; the information is easy to follow with links and labels, and enhanced by supplemental images and diagrams.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

2. How Kids Play Around the World<\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n<\/div>\n
\n

How Kids Play Around the World<\/span><\/span><\/a> <\/span><\/span>is a lesson plan directly from the Project Pals Catalog where students examine the idea of play and games from across the globe.\u00a0The project can also be extended to include facts about each country, like its capital, regions, and leaders.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Each student included <\/span>dozens<\/span><\/span>\u00a0of games with instructions and images from their chosen country. Students also went above and beyond by\u00a0<\/span>describing several of their country’s characteristics<\/span><\/span>, like its climate, religions, and national flora and fauna.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

This play project provides students with the perfect opportunity to share their own experiences and connect with other cultures through an <\/span>authentic<\/span><\/span> and <\/span>accessible<\/span><\/span> lens, as exemplified by our students in India.\u00a0<\/span>See screenshots below for highlights:\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

3. Are Humans Affecting Climate?<\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n<\/div>\n
\n

Is Human Activity Influencing Climate, and What Can We Do about It?<\/span><\/a> is a 4-part project series available now in the Project Pals Catalog.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

This project was adapted from <\/span>Stanford University’s<\/span><\/span> Learning Through Performance curriculum<\/span><\/a>, which aligns project-based learning with Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS).\u00a0In Part 1, students investigate <\/span>core concepts of climate change<\/span><\/span>, like weather and climate, examples of causes and effects of climate change, and greenhouse gases.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Students produced an impressive list of causes and effects, provided detailed answers to project prompts, and brainstormed several ways citizens and cities can reduce their carbon footprint.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

4. Community Engagement and Safety\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n<\/div>\n
\n

How Does Community Engagement Affect Community Safety?<\/span><\/a> is a lesson plan in the Project Pals Catalog adapted from the Department of Justice’s\u00a0<\/span>Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN) <\/span><\/span>program.\u00a0In this project, students examine their own community, uncover underlying causes of unsafe communities, and <\/span>create a plan<\/span><\/span> for promoting community safety through “people power.” The ultimate goal is to identify ways informed, engaged citizens can make communities safer for all.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

The 12th graders at Bloom Public School completed this project in the context of their own community, South Delhi, and discussed how <\/span>complex factors<\/span><\/span> like illiteracy and poverty can lead to crime. Their detailed list of causes and solutions demonstrates a <\/span>deep understanding of the issues most central to their community<\/span><\/span>, and how they as citizens have the power to help.\u00a0<\/span>See screenshots below for highlights:<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

5. Plan a Trip<\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n<\/div>\n
\n

In the <\/span>Plan a Trip<\/span><\/a> lesson plan available in the Project Pals Catalog, students take on the role of a\u00a0<\/span>travel agent\u00a0<\/span><\/span>and create a trip package for potential customers.\u00a0In the true spirit of a travel agent, they must include <\/span>details<\/span><\/span> about the weather, attractions, accommodations, transportation options, restaurants, and other recommendations.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Students design an activity-packed <\/span>itinerary<\/span><\/span> guiding their customers through their destination experience, while accurately<\/span> tracking the total price<\/span><\/span> of their travel package.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Bloom Public School’s PBL Showcase<\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n<\/div>\n

On Friday, September 3rd, Bloom Public School held a PBL showcase for students and parents that was attended by more than 120 people.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

The reaction was\u00a0<\/span>tremendous:\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Parents were in\u00a0<\/span>awe<\/span><\/span> of what students were able to accomplish through project-based learning on our platform.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
